Some Sony camcorders are equipped with a "Nightshot" feature that lets you produce images in total darkness. It's tempting to want to extend that capability to longer distances, but the range is limited because the Nightshot feature uses infrared LEDs on the camera itself to shine an invisible flashlight onto the scene. The camera detects the light reflected from the scene, but if it's too far away, the LED light will be too spread out and the camera won't be able to produce an image from that reflected light. Even with that limitation, there are three distinct ways to incorporate telescope or telescope-like capabilities into your Sony Camcorder.
